"The symbolic cut off corrupt authority head"

Voronezh, May 2007

Russian authorities have resumed eviction of NGO “Roerichs’ Center” in Voronezh. This NGO was founded in 1968 and was suffering pressure during soviet times.
In 1998 local government provided free office for NGO “Roerichs’ Center” and signed contract valid untill 2017.
Roerichs’ Center members are engaged in yoga and meditation in office. Many intercultural events are organized in this center. Roerichs’ Center founded the theater in 2006.  Many theatrical scenes were shown.
Furthermore, Roerichs’ Center together with Association of Russian Lawyers for Human Rights realizes common projects as: Court of Referees of Chernozyom region, Human Rights Center.
It is important, that local authorities tried to put to tender NGO “Roerichs’ Center” office first time in 2007. During tender near city administration office Association of Russian Lawyers for Human Rights organized series of protest actions. During these actions the symbolic cut off corrupt authority head and the symbolic flogging of corrupt authority was made. These actions were supported by local people and members of  “Roerichs’ Center” and Association Russian Lawyers for Human Rights.
After that local government changed its position and excluded this office from list for sale.
But now without warning “Roerichs’ Center” office was sent for the auction which organized by Military Organization for sale of military equipment. The auction will be taken place in Moscow 09 September 2009. It means that any public civil action is forbidden officially near the military objects according to Russian legislation.
